Chaiyo Coast

The eastern seaboard province, around the port of Chaiyo and the mouth of the River Muhau. Its people live off the eastern sea: the Chaiyo tuna fleet, fishermen who fish with leashed cormorants, seaweed dried and eaten along the whole coast, and the hairy coast crab taken in the estuaries each autumn. Sea-lions bark from the harbor rocks, and the banded coast krait makes the shallows dangerous. The merchants of Chaiyo are the core of the Open Gate faction, which would trade with the Cherüsh rather than pay them.
