Northmere marshes

The marshes of the Northmere, north of Lake Surmave, are home to the Marsh Reeds, about two thousand reed-cutters and eel-trappers who live on stilts, speak old Vareth, and keep the Hearthfaith with one extra hearth for the marsh itself. Aldmere claims them and has never collected a tax. The marshes supply mere reed for thatch and mere eels that are smoked and shipped to Caelvenne. They are being drained out of existence by Thalmirn's new dikes, and the Marsh Reeds are fading with them.
