Circle of Roots

The Circle of Roots is the council that governs the Waheli and the seven Groves, and the map marks its seat in the middle of the Greenwarden. Waheli councils sit inside rings of circle mushrooms, and the Waheli say that if the rings ever grow in a line instead, the Circle will split. Its eldest is Elder Wiroll, in his nineties, who sits at the Old Grove, has not left the forest in seventy years, and keeps the Venei's Throat shields nailed up. The Circle's own policy is to defend the edge and kill trespassers, but it is divided by Viwal Stainhand's Reaping, which wants the forest's edge made a hundred miles of corpses, and by its feud with the Bark-Singers.
