Khaasarate of Zarvand

It descends from the Sarvani Khaasarate, which signed the Accord of Surmave in 0 R., and takes its name ("land of gold," for the color of the Talodin at sunset) from Khaasar Salestaad the Builder, who renamed the realm in 183 R. An absolute Khaasar, now the dying poet-astronomer Avisteer III, rules through Jaarzebeem who govern the meemakhoot like kings, with a Grand Vizier, Tartal-i Kebidaan, running the treasury, the salestoot and the caravan tolls. Some seven million people live on the caravan trade of the Spice Way, on dates, silk, saffron, glass, paper, salt and horses, and on the learning of the House of Learning; the realm fields horse archers, cataphracts, camel corps and the ten thousand of the Unfading, and alone knows the making of Talodin fire. Its three great dangers in 1146 are the seven princes circling the throne, a river whose headwaters lie on Tharaxi ground, and Castavar's Fourth Crusade.
