Kingdom of Aldmere

Aldmere, "the steady middle," is the second power of Aethorra, with about eight million people spread from the eastern foothills of the Karzhan Spine to Lake Surmave, on both banks of the River Wenvorm. It was born in 178 R., when Hethmed Tulvard, son of King Hethbael of Vareth and Queen Sildith of Wessary, became the first king of the united realm; the Tulvards have ruled ever since, and King Hethlarn Tulvard III "the Steady" is the thirty-first of the line. The king rules with the Moot, a council of great lords and elected burgher-reeves that has met every year since 352 and makes the law. The Charter of Hearths (641) guarantees freedom of worship, which makes the kingdom a refuge for other realms' dissenters, and the Hearthfaith of the Seven Hearths is its common faith. Aldmere sells grain, wool, cattle, ale, timber and iron goods, fields county levies, 8,000 Crown Wardens and the famous longbowmen of the south, and pays in the gold crown and silver mark. It has owed Caelvenne money since the Grain Compact of 511, and in 1146 Prince Hethbael asked his father in front of the Moot why Aldmere still pays interest on that loan.
